JUST IN: EDEWOR' TACKLES CHALLENGES CONFRONTING LOCAL GOVERNMENT LEGISLATIVE IN NIGERIA.
Today Friday 5th January, 2024, Comr Edewor Otighoarievwen who is the founder/National Coordinator of Viable Youth for Good Governance drop a written article concerning major deep challenges confronting local government service delivery in Nigeria on social media.
In specification, he used Ughelli South LGA where he hails from as a case study, stating; the below four major challenges
•Lack of funds
•Corruption
•Undue Political Interference and
•Lack of professionalism as problem militating against Ughelli South LGA service delivery.
The undue political interference which is no.3 challenges earlier stated, has brings about influencing wrong choice of candidate on grass root political participators and the entire ward. Looking to the reasons of local government formation you will realize representative democracy even at the grass root is not to neglect ward/community social and infrastructural development rather is to enhance the process of close government relations, interactions and making of bye laws to suit or favour the grass root.
However, as an idea Marchant and opinion leader, I, in the spirit of Viable Youth for good governance and a patriotic citizen of Nigeria who has endulge in grass root politics in one way or the other, suggest to LG political authorities to allow the due process of contesting in all sphere of public office, most especially the local legislative office, Edewor stated.
He furthermore advice that, allowing contestant to pass through due process avoiding political interference will help to kill selection of leaders and encourage election of leaders including true democracy practices among the people of the grass root.
Comr Edewor O. promised to talk more on the fitness of grass root political activities to suit the M.O.R.E. agenda of the Delta State Governor Hon Sheriff F. Oborevwori.
