At exactly 12:00 noon yesterday 5th August, 2024, The Coordinator of a None Governmental Organization (Viable Youth for Good Governance) congratulate Hon (Mrs) Ejayeta Beauty Sunday on her well deserved appointment as the House Committee Chairperson Women Affairs and Social Development of the 8th government in Ughelli South area.

(V.Y.G.G) in thoughtful act wish the very councillor of Jeremi ward 4 Hon Ejayeta B. Sunday all the best of her position in the Ughelli South 8th legislative representation. 

Comr Edewor O. in the vein of Good Governance find a path to charge the Honourable Councillor appointed as the House Committee Chairperson "Women Affairs and Social Development" in Ughelli South local government to maintain advance means of duties discharge in her position following suit to achieve set goals as her department works in close collaboration with Gender Desk Officers in line Ministries and Agencies, Women focused Non-Governmental Organizations and Cooperative Groups, United Nations Agencies,  Civil Society Groups, Legislatures and International Development Agencies bringing government closer to the good people of Ughelli South, Delta State.

As part of the congratulations wishes Comr Edewor O. said; Hon Ejayeta, please 'showing the people your no but little capacity of representative government carrying out functions and duties per your appointed position in the Ughelli South 8th Legislative council will be of interest to the good people of the LG.

Therefore, kindly in your best accomplished 'if not all, but some of the below functions and duties of House Committee Chairperson Women affairs and Social Development in the grass root.

1. Promoting women’s advancement and coordinating the sustenance of a gender equality perspective in the plans, projects and programmes of the Local Government.

2. Initiates and implements programmes for Women’s Education, Empowerment and Training (WETR).

3. Administers National Women Focused Non-Governmental organizations.

4. Initiates, Implements, Regulate and standardise programmes for Ughelli South Local Government Women formal, informal Education and Training on Skill Acquisition, Staff Training and Welfare.

5. Initiates, implements and Coordinate Programmes in the areas of Women’s Rights, Protection and participation in Ughelli South Local Government.

6. Initiates and Implements programmes for the protection, promotion of Women’s Rights in Ughelli South local government.

7. Promote and support women’s participation in politics, leadership, governance and development process.

8. Also, Initiates and implements programmes in the areas of; Care and Social Support Services- Material and financial Support; Gender based Violence especially Violence Against Women (VAW); Survival and Livelihood – Health, Vesico Vagina Fistula (VVF), maternal Mortality etc.

9. Provides and strengthening support systems for poor women; and Administration of Shelters for Women victims of gender based violence.

10. Women and Gender Policy Management Unit (WPMU) should be well re-emphasised in Ughelli South local government for the female gender to enjoy.
