URHOBO OIL AND GAS NATIONALITY PRESENT U.O.G.F. VOLUME 1— DTHA.
URHOBO OIL AND GAS NATIONALITY PRESENT U.O.G.F. VOLUME 1— DTHA.
The Urhobo hierarchy class in Nigeria on the 17th july, 2024 presented publication volume 1 on "The Urhobo Oil And Gas Facilities" to the honourable members of the Delta State House Of Assembly.
1. The Urhobo people of Nigeria have contributed alot and still contributing to the overall growth of Nigeria but have received too little in return inspite of our enermous contribution. A careful look at the cause of these marginalization and deprivation has shown that the cause is due to the fact that in Nigeria, people do not get what they deserve but what they bargain for. In this Regard, we have decided as Urhobo Sons and Daughters to cry out against these injustices in Nigeria against the Urhobo Ethnic Nationality of Delta State. We have gone to the National Assembly to make a presentation to Our Senators and Reps. We have also decided to engage you today with some of our domestic pains and also suggest to you as our Reps at the state level of how we think you can also go about in bringing soccour and solutions to the problems
2. DESOPADEC:
Our sons and daughters who work in Delta State Oil producing Areas Development Commission, Desopadec have been subjected to untold hardship for no sins of theirs. This is bacause salaries and wages are charged to Ethnic votes meanwhile, other top charges such as security votes and administrative expenses etc are charged otherwise. This is unfair to the Urhobo Nation. Salary and wages should be treated as first line charge like the administrative and security votes. While their costaffers are being promoted, they remain in same position. This is another cheating against the Urhobo people in Desopadec. We strongly appeal to you to ensure that the state government takes a step to ascertain the production quantum of oil and gas of each of the Ethnic Nationalities in Delta state. Urhobo remains the highest producer of oil and gas in Delta State. The sharing formula being used in Desopadec for the various Ethnic Nationalities is a cooked one. It is not real, it does not represent the factual record of production and it must be stopped.

3. METERING OF OIL AND GAS FLOW STATION:
Nigeria has issued contract of metering 187 flow station in the oil and gas sector. Only Urhobo has far over 10 of such flow stations which we do not share with other Ethnic Nationalities. Our contribution to the Nigeria GDP is very massive yet we are being relegatted to the back ground. This is unacceptable.
4. NDDC & FEDEDRAL MINISTRY OF NIGER DELTA:
Niger Delta Development commission is structured to deliver dividends to the variuos Areas and States base on quatum of Production but when others occupy the management seat of the commission, we the Urhobos benefit so little to the extent of near no recognition. This is the same way the Federal ministry of Niger Delta is treating the Urhobo Nation. The Federal ministry of Niger Delta has 3 skills acquisition centres in Delta North Senatorial District at kwale, Agbor and Ibusa. Also it has 3 skills acquisition centres in Delta South Senatorial District at Tuomor, Abigborodo and Ogheye but decided not to even give any to Delta Central. What a shame! Whenever there is federal training, our people are meant to go to other senatorial districts for training. This is nothing but the height of evil. We want the State Assembly to join us in the fight against this injustice. In the 2024 budget, nearly all the projects of the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta are domiciled in Edo North. Is Urhobo not part of Niger Delta? Where is our Project? We are being cheated from all conners. We must rise up against this.
5. AT&P AND BENDEL GLASS FACTORY:
We humbly seek your support for part of the 13% derivation fund to be used for the revitalization of the ailing AT&P factory at Sapele and Bendel Glass Factory at Ughelli. The revampment of these 2 industries shall raise up the economy of Delta state and put food on the table for so many Deltans. Since the administration of Chief James Ibori, a governor who performed very well in Delta, we have be constructing roads, bridges and buildings. Lets therefore make a paradigm shift to industrilization and what shall bring massive economic empowerment and enployment to our people. If Late Chief Dennis Osadebe could establish 3 factories, Midwest Glass, Ughelli; Midwest Cement factory, Ukpela & Asaba textile Mill with low midwest income, within the short period of his office, we believe, these 2 industries of AT&P and Bendel Glass can be revamped in the midst of the present humongus Delta state 13% derivation.
6. CONVERSION OF FLARE GAS TO DOMESTIC & INDUSTRIAL GAS:
Instead of wasting the huge gas reserve God has given to us thereby putting our health in danger, we strongly appeal to the Delta state government to establish industries that can convert these huge gas resources for domestic and industrial use. It will generate employment and mitigate the health hazard of the gas flare. We the Urhobos have numerous flare sites running into about 20 in number. You can see why we have so many health hazards.
7. GAS FLARE PENALTY FUND:
The gas flare Penalty being paid by the Setlors or IOCs is beeing dumped at the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN without being used to develope the Area where the gas is being flared. This money is running into billions of dollars. We want our Hon Members in the House to demand for the Urhobo share of this fund. Dumping this money at CBN while our people suffer is a great sin against our people.
8. OIL & GAS EXPORT TERMINALS:
The Oil & Gas being produced in Urhobo land are taken through the Trans Forcados line to the various Export terminals at Forcados, Escravos, Bonga, Tulgia etc. However, our sons were refused employments in those teminals. The very few of our sons whom were given employment, were sacked because they claimed that they were not members of the host communities. This is another gross marginalization of our people. The state Assembly should as a matter of urgency address this injustice. Our neigbours should not treat us as enemies because we love them with our open hearts.

9. URHOBO OIL AND GAS FACILITIES:
Uroagan has compiled Urhobo oil and gas facilities into a single document, tagged urhobo oil and gas facilities. This document shows clearly the oil well, flowstations, manifolds, lact units, treatment tanks, flare sites, camp sites, gas plants, saver pits, helipads field logistic base, knockout valves, fire station, tank farm, control room and turbines, dump sites, Natural Associated Gas station, Gas terninal, Petrochemical Refinary, compressor valves etc including their Locations and their operators. In short, Urhobo is a Great Nation blessed by God with peace loving people but we have been taken for granted for too long. We must rise up to the chanllege now otherwise the Urhobo generation after us shall suffer more, but God forbids. We all know that God hates oppression and deprivation hence we must do all it takes to stop this gang up and canage against the Blessed Urhobo Nation. If we do not fight our fight, nobody will fight it for us.
Therefore they seek for permission to present the Volume 1 of the Urhobo oil and Gas facilities publication to the Mr Deputy speaker and other members of the Delta State House of Assembly from Urhobo Ethnic Nationality.
10. CONCLUSION: The Urhobo ethnicity hierarchy sincerely thank the Deputy Speaker of Delta State, Rt.Hon Chief Arthur Akpowowo and the Urhobo Members of the Delta state House of Assembly in finding time to warmly receive them without hesitation. It was their prayer that may God grant unto both the Deputy Speaker and Urhobo legislature's in the DTHA more knowledge to do constitute job to the Benefits of their Constituents in Jesus name, Amen.
Signed:
Chief (Sir) Obiuwevbi Ominimini Ph.D, FIMC, FCILRM
